Lyon is in east-central France and is the second-largest metropolitan area in France. Santo Domingo, is the capital and largest city in the Dominican Republic.

The city contains a significant software industry with a particular focus on video games, and in recent years has focussed on a growing local start-up sector. Santo Domingo is the center of economic activity in the Dominican Republic. Many national and international firms have their headquarters or regional offices in the city. The city attracts many international firms and franchises due to its geographic location, stability and vibrant economy.
The overall cost of living rank in Lyon is 83 out of 300 global locations, which equates it with high cost of living locations. An expatriate moving from Santo Domingo to Lyon will experience a change in cost of living of 34.7%.
