Moving to Stanley

Today we look at moving to Stanley in Falkland Islands from Copenhagen in Denmark. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.
In Stanley people speak English. In Copenhagen people speak Danish.

Stanley (also known as "Port Stanley") is the capital and only true city in the Falkland Islands. Copenhagen is the capital and largest city of Denmark.
Stanley is the main shopping centre on the islands and the hub of East Falkland's road network. Copenhagen is the economical and financial centre of Denmark and also a strong business and economic centre in the Scandinavian-Baltic region.

The overall cost of living rank in Stanley is 43 out of 300 global locations, which equates it with high cost of living locations.  An expatriate moving from Copenhagen to Stanley will experience a change in cost of living of -13.9%.
In terms of the hardship people are likely to experience, assessed in global terms, Stanley is ranked as a high degree of hardship location with a hardship index of 30% compared to Copenhagen with a hardship index of 10% which is a minimal hardship location.
