Moving to Honiara

Today we look at moving to Honiara in Solomon Islands from San Marino in San Marino. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.
In Honiara people speak English (official) and Melanesian dialects. In San Marino people speak Italian.

Honiara is the capital of the Solomon Islands. The City of San Marino is the capital city of the Republic of San Marino. Honiara industry consists of several beverage factories and a cookie factory. Major exports are timber, coconuts, copra and fish. Honiara International Airport is located about 10 kilometers outside the city. The economy of the city of San Marino is closely bound to that of the country.

The overall cost of living rank in Honiara is 86 out of 300 global locations, which equates it with high cost of living locations.  An expatriate moving from San Marino to Honiara will experience a change in cost of living of -5.4%.
In terms of the hardship people are likely to experience, assessed in global terms, Honiara is ranked as a high degree of hardship location with a hardship index of 30% compared to San Marino with a hardship index of 10% which is a minimal hardship location.
