Moving to Kiev

Today we look at moving to Kiev in Ukraine from Bangkok in Thailand. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.
In Kiev people speak Ukrainian (official), Russian. In Bangkok people speak Thai.

Kiev is the capital and the largest city of Ukraine. Bangkok is the capital, largest urban area and primary city of Thailand. Kiev is a major administrative, cultural and scientific centre of the Ukraine. It is the largest city in Ukraine in terms of both population and area and enjoys the highest levels of business activity. Bangkok is the economic center of Thailand, dominating the country's economy.
The overall cost of living rank in Kiev is 168 out of 300 global locations, which equates it with middle cost of living locations.  An expatriate moving from Bangkok to Kiev will experience a change in cost of living of 0.4%.

In terms of the hardship people are likely to experience, assessed in global terms, Kiev is ranked as a high degree of hardship location with a hardship index of 30% compared to Bangkok with a hardship index of 30% which is a high degree of hardship location.
