Moving to Ljubljana

Today we look at moving to Ljubljana in Slovenia from Apia in Samoa. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.
In Ljubljana people speak Slovene. In Apia people speak Samoan and English.

Ljubljana is the capital of Slovenia and its largest city. Apia is the capital and the largest city of Samoa. Industry is Ljubljana's most important employer, notably pharmaceuticals, petrochemicals and food processing. Apia Harbour is by far the largest and busiest harbour in Samoa. Apia is served by a good road network, which is generally kept reasonably well maintained.

The overall cost of living rank in Ljubljana is 165 out of 300 global locations, which equates it with middle cost of living locations.  An expatriate moving from Apia to Ljubljana will experience a change in cost of living of -7.5%.
In terms of the hardship people are likely to experience, assessed in global terms, Ljubljana is ranked as a high degree of hardship location with a hardship index of 30% compared to Apia with a hardship index of 30% which is a high degree of hardship location.
