Moving to Victoria

Today we look at moving to Victoria in Seychelles from Jamestown in Saint Helena. We highlight cost of living and other major differences likely to be experienced in our series of short blogs on moving between different international locations.
In Victoria people speak English, French and Creole. In Jamestown people speak English.

Victoria is the capital city of the Republic of Seychelles. Jamestown is the capital of the island of Saint Helena. Victoria is the smallest African capital. The principal exports are vanilla, coconuts, coconut oil, tortoise shell, soap, and guano. Jamestown is the island's port, with facilities for unloading goods delivered to the island, and the centre of the island's road and communications network.

The overall cost of living rank in Victoria is 241 out of 300 global locations, which equates it with low cost of living locations.  An expatriate moving from Jamestown to Victoria will experience a change in cost of living of -30.7%.
 In terms of the hardship people are likely to experience, assessed in global terms, Victoria is ranked as a some hardship location with a hardship index of 20% compared to Jamestown with a hardship index of 30% which is a high degree of hardship location.
